4227 Glibenclamide inhibits prostanoid induced contractions of isolated bovine retinal and ciliary arteries
نویسندگان
چکیده
&3&@wM : Glihenclamide is an oral hypoglycaemic drug. believed to stimulate the release of insulin by blOCking the ATPdepandent potassium channels of the pancreatic p-cell membrane. ATP-regulated K+-channels are also present in vascular smooth muscle cell. Opening of these channels by dnyls such as cmmakalim or pinactdil. hyperpolarizes the smooth muscle cell and induces relaxation. These relaxations are blocked by Qlibenctamide. Glibencfamide has recently been shown to almost completely block prostanoid induced contra&ion of the rat aorta.

The effect of NO donors on bovine retinal small arteries and posterior ciliary arteries.
PURPOSE This study was designed to investigate the effect of nitric oxide (NO) donors on isolated bovine retinal and ciliary arteries. METHODS Bovine retinal and short posterior ciliary arteries were mounted on a dual-wire myograph for isometric tension recordings. The relaxation induced by increasing concentrations of the following NO donors was compared: 0.1 nM to 10 microM nitroglycerin, 0...
متن کاملVasoactive responses of U46619, PGF2alpha, latanoprost, and travoprost in isolated porcine ciliary arteries.
PURPOSE To compare the vasoactive properties of the prostanoids U46619 (thromboxane A2 analogue), prostaglandin F(2alpha) (PGF(2alpha)), latanoprost free acid, and travoprost free acid in isolated porcine ciliary arteries. METHODS In a myograph system (isometric force measurement), quiescent vessels were exposed (cumulatively) to U46619, PGF(2alpha), latanoprost, or travoprost (0.1 nM-0.1 mM)...
متن کاملThrombin contracts isolated bovine retinal small arteries in vitro.
The effect of thrombin was tested in vitro on rings of bovine retinal small arteries (internal diameter approximately 200 microns). Cumulative addition of thrombin (0.001-10 units/ml) induced a variable concentration-dependent contraction of the retinal arteries. The contractions were slow in onset and reached a plateau after 5-8 minutes when thrombin was added cumulatively to the organ bath. T...
متن کاملRetinal arterial tone is controlled by a retinal-derived relaxing factor.
The present study provides evidence that retinal tissue may profoundly influence the retinal arterial smooth muscle cell tone by releasing an unknown retinal relaxing factor. Isolated bovine retinal arteries with and without adhering retinal tissue were mounted in a wire myograph for isometric tension recordings. The maximal contraction induced by prostaglandin F2alpha was 0.95+/-0.7 mN (n=6) i...
متن کاملThe vasorelaxing effect of CGRP and natriuretic peptides in isolated bovine retinal arteries.
PURPOSE To study the vasorelaxing effect of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and natriuretic peptides on isolated bovine retinal arteries (BRAs) and to evaluate the possibility of the unidentified retinal relaxing factor (RRF) being one of these peptides. METHODS Retinal arteries were isolated from bovine eyes and mounted in a wire myograph for isometric tension recording. Concentration...
